Zd Zero Defects white t-shirt
At ZD we started designing with a simple goal “to create the perfect zero defects white t-shirt”. From our studio we have revisited “the iconic white t-shirt” without compromising on quality, style and ethics for the planet and people.
Made of organic cotton or soya yarn, our T-shirts are made in Spain with sustainability and durability in mind, as well as being of the highest quality.
That’s why wearing a white ZD T-shirt doesn’t just give you an impeccable appearance. It also allows you to make a statement of intent about who you are and what your values are. But…
Why are the T-shirts white?
Because there was a time when for women and men of the Victorian era, a white garment was an important symbol of hygiene, distinction and sobriety. This remained the case until William Cotton invented the knitting machine and it was possible to reproduce them on a large scale.
Later, in the 1950s, the white T-shirt became the trademark of young people who wanted to look like the actors of the big screen, such as Marlon Brando in the film “A Streetcar Named Desire” or James Dean in “Rebel Without a Cause”.
But it was also adapted by women who were influenced by the actresses of the time, such as Marlene Dietrich, Marilyn Monroe and Katherine Hepburn, who wore it as a symbol of equality and modernity. So in this way a simple “white T-shirt” became an icon for both men and women.
A "renewed" original icon

It is a garment that is not without controversy because it has been downgraded to the category of a cheap product, mass-produced without quality and manufactured in places where labour and environmental conditions are unethical.
That’s why ZD was born to move forward without harming the planet. Our aim is to continue to design the simple and perfect t-shirt beautifully crafted by artisan hands, ethically and with carefully chosen materials.
Men’s and women’s organic cotton T-shirts are designed as basics that are built to last. Just like the soya yarn models, which are a joy.
Thanks to tradition, innovation and the progress that seems to be on our side, we have managed to maintain this icon over time, which can be worn both as an under garment and as an outer garment for a more casual and relaxed look.
The white "zero defects" T-shirt
The image of a person in a white T-shirt and leather jacket is very different from the image of a punk full of safety pins and holes, or very different from the vest worn by an executive under his shirt.
… But it is still “the same white shirt”.
It all depends on how we combine it or wear it according to our taste, so that a simple white T-shirt can be subversive, elegant, preppy, conservative or simply functional.
