ZD AND SUSTAINABILITY

At ZD we are the antithesis of industrialised fashion. For more than 100 years our production has always been handcrafted and the company’s capital is entirely Spanish. We opened our factory in the heart of Mataró, at Carrer Santa Marta 44, and a century later we are still in the same place, with the same philosophy of creating handcrafted, quality products made at home, without seeking mass profit and without relocating production to third countries.

Despite the ups and downs of the market, loyalty to the principles of the brand has ensured our continuity and consolidation. Without losing sight of the values that gave birth to the company and have led us to excellence, always giving priority to people and the planet above all else.

Our model responds to the Slow Fashion philosophy, although, before this concept existed, we were already producing in a responsible way, reducing the environmental impact as much as possible with biodegradable and organic materials, free of toxic substances.

GARMENTS AND FABRICS

We are one of the few companies in the world that manufactures its garments with soya yarn, a fabric with beneficial properties, ideal for sensitive skins. As it is an ecological fabric, it does not admit bleaching dyes (the chromatic range goes from the lightest cava colour to beige, vision, graphite and black).

Our garments are classic, elegant and versatile: they will never go out of fashion in your wardrobe. Highly resistant, they do not lose their quality or deform after 200 washes. There is nothing more sustainable than timeless, long-lasting garments that don’t break or get holes in them after a few months and end up in the bin.

Increasingly, ethical fashion consumption is leading consumers to be concerned about where the clothes they wear are produced, where the materials come from and how they are made. At ZD, the process is totally kilometre 0: produced in Mataró by local workers.

SOCIAL COMMITMENT

We have been contributing to the economic development of the city and the region for more than 100 years. Generating employment for people from the same city or from a very close environment. We are committed to strengthening family business ties and mothers have often passed on their know-how to their daughters.

For years, our company has also been committed to ensuring that our employees enjoy a work-life balance that allows them to work, but at the same time enjoy a good quality of family and personal life. This is possible thanks to the introduction of a continuous working day, which means that all afternoons of the year are at their free disposal.

In addition, as part of our commitment to the territory and as part of our social responsibility, we work with InserTex in the city of Mataró. A recruitment programme for unemployed people and people at risk of social exclusion.

We firmly believe that this has a beneficial impact on people, the social environment and the immediate territorial environment.

CERTIFICACIONS

We are certified Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX, the world’s leading eco-label for textile products, which have been tested and certified by internationally recognised institutes. This label certifies that our products do not contain harmful substances that can damage our health.

We also have the amfori BSCI system, based on a common code of conduct, which offers a step-by-step approach that enables companies to put sustainable trade at the heart of their business, by: Interacting with business partners and monitoring their social performance.

SUPPLIERS

We work with local suppliers and collaborating companies, which facilitates circular work with the lowest possible environmental impact.

Our R&D&I laboratory continues to research and develop new environmentally friendly fabrics with health benefits. Since 1920, the basic principle of the brand has been honesty in order to always achieve the highest quality.
